ESCANABA – Bay College honored its 2015 Outstanding Part-Time Educators at an awards dinner held on April 28.   Don Johnson Agency/MEEMIC Insurance sponsored the Outstanding Educator Awards.  To receive consideration for the award, faculty were nominated by a colleague, student, or someone from the community.  The primary focus of this award is to acknowledge faculty’s commitment to education and excellence in service to others.

The Bay College Alumni Association will be hosting an Alumni & Graduate Celebration on Thursday, May 7th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Eastern at Hereford & Hops in Escanaba.  Graduates and Bay Alumni are welcome!  Food and fun will be provided, and a cash bar will be available.

The winners of Bay College's 2014-15 student symposium are Rikki A. Stropich and Amanda L. McKenna. They are pictured here with Instructor Larry Sundling. The students conducted a Fluoride research project on privately owned water wells in Brampton Township, Michigan. The annual Bay College greenhouse plant sale will be held Monday, May 4 to Friday, May 8, from 9 AM to 5 PM at the greenhouse (room 116) in the Math Science Building at the College. The sale focuses on native perennial wildflowers grown from locally collected seed.

Bay West has announced its winners in 2015 Winter Semester Student Show. Art students enrolled in studio classes at Bay West have their best work on exhibit in Bay West’s Upper Commons. The student exhibit will be open for viewing until May 6.

In recognition of National Student Employee Week, Bay College announces Stephan Ballance as our 2015 Student Employee of the Year.  Stephan works in the Shipping and Receiving Department at Bay College. Stephan demonstrates dependability, initiative, professionalism, and outstanding performance in his daily work. Dr. Coleman presented a plaque of recognition, a certificate, and a gift.

At 7 PM on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, 2015 there will be a free showing of the new documentary film Thirsty for Justice.  http://ejcw.org/thirsty/    The film, produced by the Environmental Justice Coalition for Water explores the struggle for the human right to water.  The showing will be at Bay College in room 122 of the Math Science Building.  There will be an iTV link to West Campus room 108.  The 40 minute film will be followed by a discussion.

Bay College’s winter 2015 Math Science Colloquia series wraps up with a free presentation at 4PM on Thursday, April 16 in room MS122 (with iTV link to West Campus room 107).   Dr. Matt Barron, Bay College Dean of Arts and Sciences will present research on predictors of student success, with ample time for discussion of the results.
