An event, “Meet the Norse Force,” to celebrate the first season of Bay College’s Norse Athletic program is scheduled for Wednesday, November 1, from 4-6 p.m. Community youth and adults are encouraged to attend and meet the Norse Cross Country and Basketball athletes and mascot, while enjoying fun and food prior to the evening basketball games. The first Norse Women’s Basketball game starts at 6 p.m. in the newly renovated Northern Lights YMCA gym on Bay College’s campus, followed by the Men’s Basketball game at 8 p.m. Alumni basketball athletes will be recognized during halftime of the Men’s game.
Bay College will compete as a member of Region XIII with other two-year colleges primarily in Michigan, Minnesota, and Northern Wisconsin as part of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Dr. Laura Coleman, Bay College President, said, “We are very excited to add Athletics to our already strong Academics and Arts programs at Bay College. Athletics completes the educational triangle consisting of Academics (mental), Arts (creative) and Athletics (physical). We are planning our Norse athletic teams to be competitive forces.”
