Bay College Training and Development (M-TEC) is planning the Upper Peninsula Continuing Ed Dental Seminar
that will take place on Friday, May 19 from 9 am – 4 pm. The seminar, approved by the Michigan Board of Dentistry for six continuing education contact hours, will feature Canadian Dr. Carla Cohn, DMD from Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Dr. Cohn will be giving a two-part presentation called, Conquer the Kids and Win the Family
. The focus of the seminar will be on examination, prevention, restoration and how to treat little patients well. Cohn has lectured nationally and internationally and speaks as a clinician who has observed first-hand and dealt directly with everything presented in her talks.
Dr. Cohn graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba in 1991, after which she went on to complete a post graduate internship in Children’s Dentistry at Health Science Centre Children’s Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After graduation, Dr. Cohn entered into private practice and dedicated most of the first decade to working and raising her three sons.
Alarmed at the rampant tooth decay she encountered in very young patients, Dr. Cohn wanted to help these children regain their health in a quick and efficient manner, and as a result, started her second decade in practice with a focus on prevention. Dr. Cohn’s private practice, Kid’s Dental
, has developed a groundbreaking system that allows dentists to eradicate cavities and treat carries by risk assessment.
In addition to having her own private practice for over 20 years, Dr. Cohn currently holds appointments at the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Dentistry; and the Dean’s Advisory board at the University of Manitoba. In addition to recently being inducted into the Pierre Fauchard Academy, Cohn has surgical privileges as a shareholder at Western Surgery Centre and is a member of the following organizations: Canadian Dental Association, Manitoba Dental Association, Winnipeg Dental Society, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Canadian Dental Institute.
This seminar, offered in partnership with Cloverland District Dental Society, will take place in the conference rooms of the Joseph Heirman University Center located on the campus of Bay College. Seminar fees include registration, morning refreshments, and lunch.
