Bay College is pleased to announce that Dr. Molly Magestro has been hired as a new full-time faculty member in English. Dr. Magestro will be teaching primarily writing courses at Iron Mountain Campus and Dickinson County high schools beginning this fall semester.
“Hiring a full-time English faculty to serve our Iron Mountain Campus and Dickinson County high schools was a priority for our faculty, staff, and administration. With a retirement, we were able to create this position and better meet student and community needs,” said Jessica Van Slooten, Dean of Arts and Sciences.
Magestro earned an M.A. in English and Creative Writing from Iowa State University and a Ph.D. in English and Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in Native American Studies from Montana State University. She has been a faculty member at Miles Community College in Miles City, Montana, where she taught courses in composition, humanities, and Native American studies.
A native of Wisconsin, she taught composition and developmental writing for the University of Wisconsin-Colleges for nearly a decade before moving to Montana. Dr. Magestro brings an empowering student-centered approach to her teaching, service, and professional development and is deeply committed to the community college mission. She is excited to live and work in the Midwest again.
“After twenty years teaching all kinds of writing at community colleges, I am excited to join the team at Bay College and make connections in Iron Mountain and the surrounding area. I hope to contribute to the supportive and welcoming environment at Bay, which I believe allows students to define and meet their own goals,” said Molly Magestro.
Bay College faculty and staff are eager to welcome our newest full-time faculty member. “The Arts & Letters Division is excited to once again have a full-time faculty member based on the Iron Mountain campus. Molly will be an excellent addition to the Bay family!” Jennifer McCann, Arts and Letters Division Chair.
